Pathway 03 · Training on the go & out on the trail
Leave the familiar.
Adventurous training in real terrain, away from the arena and the routine. Groundwork that inspires, and for those who want to ride, the first steps under saddle, started in the field and on the trail.
Training on the go
The terrain does the teaching.
An arena repeats itself. Open country never does. Out here every slope, ditch and gate asks a real question, and your horse gets to answer it.
We train on the go: groundwork that inspires, and riding for those who want it, starting or restarting in the field. The partnership unfolds where it will be lived.
What you'll explore
Real terrain
Slopes, water, woods and wind. Questions no arena can ask, met one at a time.
Groundwork on the move
Work in hand that travels. The conversation continues while the world changes around it.
First rides
For those who want to ride: starting or restarting under saddle, in the field, at the pace your horse sets.
Trust away from home
What holds at home is tested out here, and comes back stronger.
Riding is welcome in this Pathway, and never required. Every stage holds a full path for pairs who stay on the ground.
A stage weekend
How three days tend to run.
Held in real terrain, across the seasons. Your own travel and your horse's stabling during the weekends are not included.
The Roadmap
A year, in four stages.
Four stages of three days across the year, with winter sessions for the theory in between.
Four
One for each season, three days each.
Winter
Sessions that carry the theory, held by the fire.
Real
Field, wood and trail. The arena stays behind.
What the year holds
Everything included.

“A client's words about their first season in open country go here, in their own voice.”
Before you apply
Good questions.
No. There is a full year here for pairs who stay on the ground. For those who want to ride, this is where the partnership starts to unfold under saddle, at the pace your horse sets.
That is what the request is for. Tell me where you both are, and I place you honestly. Sometimes the answer is this Pathway, sometimes it is a season of groundwork first.
Then we have something to work with. A no on the trail is one of the best learning opportunities you will get, and we treat it that way.
Yes. This Pathway is walked with your own horse. The terrain changes, the partnership stays the same two of you.
Out of the arena
Take the work outside.
Tell me about you and your horse. I read every request myself, and if real terrain is the right next step, we begin here.
